Each month we ask one of the Blocc team members to tell us a little bit more about themselves, so we can really start to get to know the person behind the fabulous interior designs we create. This month we’d like to introduce you to Marissa!
Name:
Marissa Sanghera
Position:
Senior Interior Designer
Years at Blocc: 5 years
What am I watching?
Recently started watching “Interior Design Masters” with Alan Carr. 10 aspiring designers competing to win a contract to design a hotel. (It works in the same way as Master Chef).
In the first episode last week, they had to follow a brief and each come up with a design for a room in a showhome!
Tune in to BBC2 on Tuesday evening at 8pm
Who am I following on socials and why?
I follow 2 reality stars who have pages for their new homes on instagram at the moment: @thecrosbymanor which is Charlotte Crosby’s page & @thebowenhome which is Olivia & Alex Bowen’s home. Both of these pages focus on reality stars who have bought their own home and is showcasing the renovation process and interior design styling. They both feature completely different styles. One is Scandinavian and quite minimalistic with the other being quite a modern but country style.
I am also loving following other people sharing their love for interiors (not necessarily just interior designers)! From people doing up and decorating their own homes to those creating and putting their own stamp on a new build and seeing all the before / after photos. I feel like a lot of people can express their inner interior designer through their instagram page and can give a lot of inspiration and to others.
I also follow a few other pages for DIY tips – showing you how to create bespoke furniture, nature walls, upcycling furniture, transforming ikea furniture etc.
Favourite items for the home?
I love my house because it’s my first home with my partner that we have recently moved in to! Our first home together. For me, I find it hard to choose one thing I love about it as I love it all! I love the freedom to be able to create a design scheme for myself and bring my ideas and personality to life. I’m still currently in the process of decorating and making it my own. If I were to choose a favourite thing about my home at the moment it would be the panelling work I have carried out myself in my living / dining room. I feel like panelling is very on trend at the moment & is something that makes a space look more interesting but a very inexpensive look to achieve.
Colours and patterns I love?
I’m loving taupes / beige grey (Greige – a new trend I am seeing more on instagram) mixed with gold metals & dark furniture that create bold statements and drama but still give a warm feel.
