Pinterest Predicts – Interior Design Trends for 2025

As Pinterest reveals its 2025 trend predictions, it’s clear that the year ahead is all about breaking the rules, celebrating individuality, and romanticising the past. These trends, drawn from real searches by real people, aren’t just fleeting fads—they’re creative movements with roots in genuine interest and passion.

At our studio, we love Pinterest because it’s more than just a platform; it’s a window into what people truly want. The data isn’t about what’s trending for a moment—it’s about what has staying power. On Pinterest, trends last nearly twice as long as those on other platforms, meaning they don’t just surface and fade; they grow, evolve, and endure. For us, this longevity is vital. It allows us to design spaces that don’t just look good but feel connected to how people want to live.

Why Pinterest Data Matters

Pinterest isn’t just a place where people browse—it’s a platform where they act. With 80% of 2024’s trends continuing to grow in searches, saves, and clicks, it’s clear that these ideas resonate deeply. For designers like us, Pinterest connects us with the pulse of current and future lifestyles. It lets us dream alongside our clients, creating designs that resonate on a personal and emotional level.

With 2025 just around the corner, let’s look at the movements set to define interiors in the year ahead…

Playful Personalisation

Meet the trend all about embracing creativity with a dash of childlike wonder. Forget neutral minimalism—this is a year to pick up a paintbrush and let your imagination run wild. Hand-painted furniture is on the rise with searches for this creative trend growing by an impressive 135%. Door murals are gaining popularity too, with a 70% rise in interest, showing that people are embracing playful, artistic elements in their homes. These quirky touches aren’t just about aesthetics—they’re about personal storytelling. This is a trend that speaks to Gen Z’s love of self-expression and Gen X’s penchant for nostalgic DIY projects.

Castlecore: A Gothic Romance

Dust off your tiara—Castlecore is here to reign. Searches for “medieval core” (+110%) and “castle house plans” (+45%) are surging as people channel their inner royalty. Inspired by grand castles and gothic romance, this trend brings rich, layered textures, heavy fabrics, moody colour palettes and ornate detailing into the home. Think of a dimly lit dining room with velvet drapes, candelabras, and aged brass accents—or a cosy reading nook inspired by a medieval library featuring dark wood and leather seating. Castlecore invites interiors to be indulgent, romantic, and darkly dramatic.

Cherry Coded: Sweet, Dark, and Delicious

If you thought cherries were just for desserts, think again. In 2025, dark cherry tones are stealing the spotlight across home décor and fashion. Searches for “cherry vibe” are up a jaw-dropping 325%, with “dark cherry red” (+235%) and “cherry bedroom” (+100%) following close behind. This trend pairs perfectly with deep, dark, moody interiors—imagine a cherry-red accent wall with soft lighting to create a warm, luxurious vibe. Or colour drenching a sleeping space in rich burgundy to tap into this darkly romantic hue.

Mix & Maximalist: The More, The Merrier

Minimalism takes a back seat as maximalism continues its bold comeback. Searches for fabric wall art have grown by 135%, eclectic maximalism by 215%, and vintage maximalism by an astonishing 260%, showcasing a continuing shift towards bold and unapologetic interiors full of self-expression. Expect patterns to clash, textures to layer, and colours to collide in ways that shouldn’t work—but do. Vibrant rugs, bold velvet sofas, floral armchairs, and gallery walls packed with mismatched frames all come together to create spaces bursting with personality. Maximalism isn’t about following the rules; it’s about breaking them.

Surreal Soirees: A Dreamlike Twist

Step into a dreamscape where tables come alive with modern surrealism, blending whimsy and artistry for gatherings that feel otherworldly. In 2025, hosting will take on an imaginative twist as melted-effect candlesticks, gravity-defying floral arrangements, and sculptural centrepieces dominate décor. With searches for “dinner party tablescapes” surging by 55% and “modern surrealism” climbing by 70%, it’s clear that this playful approach is capturing hearts. Picture tables inspired by Salvador Dalí, where draped linens mimic melting forms, and flowers seem to float mid-air. This trend will encourage hosts to transform ordinary dinners into extraordinary experiences where the unexpected becomes the centrepiece.

2025 is set to be a year of self-expression, embracing creativity without boundaries-where homes become playful spaces that are full of vibrancy and life. Playing it safe is over, so which trend will you embrace?
